Motion's J3500 Tablet PC Is Tough And Smart, Like It Should Be

Apple's iPad may have arguably rebooted the tablet revolution, but Motion Computing has been producing tablets before the iPad was even a concept in the back of Steve Jobs' mind. The company's new J3500 Rugged Tablet PC isn't your average toy; instead, it uses a tough exterior, durable Gorilla glass and a more solid construction in order to give you tablet-like abilities no matter where life takes you. It's the newest member of the J-Series tablet family, and it features an Intel Core vPro processor, dual touch screen technology (the ability to use your hands or a digitizer), Windows 7, and an expanded storage system that can hold a 160GB hard drive and (not or) a 64GB/128GB solid state drive. That's two drive options in a single tablet! It also features a 3MP camera, integrated Gobi2000 mobile broadband module, 4GB of RAM, and a Core i7 or Core i5 vPro CPU.

Onto the toughness: these were built to last even in tough work environments, with both MIL-STD-810G and IP-52 ratings to ensure protection against bumps, drops, rain or other dangerous conditions. Additionally, the dual hot-swappable battery system enables users to keep things going for hours on end, but you'll need to contact Motion in order to fetch a price. We suspect this type of performance + ruggedness won't come cheaply, though.

New Capacitive Dual Touch

The J3500 with capacitive dual touch enables mobile workers to take advantage of the natural gesture navigation features built in Windows® 7 and other software applications. Optimized for digitizer and touch input, users can navigate touch-enabled software applications or legacy programs with smaller targets that require the accuracy of pen input. For more flexibility, palm rejection technology distinguishes between intentional and false touch while stylus recognition enables users to easily switch between input modes.
