Microsoft Paves Way For Windows 10 19H2 Insider Testing By Opening Skip Ahead

It might seem a bit early to some, but Microsoft is already gearing up to get testing ready for the major Windows 10 update that will arrive in the second half of 2019. Predictably, it's called Windows 10 19H2.

As you might recall, we are just a few months removed from the disastrous launch of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update and the still unnamed Windows 10 19H1 is at least a few months away at this point. But Microsoft is still giving Windows Insiders the opportunity to get in line to get early builds of Windows 10 19H2.

The company is doing this by opening up Skip Ahead, which allows testers to bypass the Windows 10 19H1 builds -- which are already far along in development -- to access the next development branch. Microsoft has been testing these early builds of Windows 10 19H2 internally for quite some time, but progress is far enough along the company is looking for useful feedback from the public.

There is one thing that we must caution, however; there is limited availability for testing Windows 10 19H2, unlike the free-for-all nature of the more traditional Windows Insider builds. So, we'd suggest that you move sooner rather than later if you want a chance to be one of the first on the block with access to unreleased features in Windows 10.

To gain access to Skip Ahead, you'll want to navigate to Settings --> Update & Security --> Windows Insider Program. From there, you'll be able to select the development branch that best suits your needs.

Microsoft was in the news earlier this week when it was noticed that some users are currently having trouble accessing Microsoft's Windows Update server for Windows 10. The majority of users, however, have been able to get around this temporary setback by changing their DNS settings. You can follow our guide on how to resolve this issue if you've been affected right here.
