Microsoft HoloLens Now Capable Of Augmenting Your Reality With Outlook Mail And Calendar Apps
Both apps are now supported on HoloLens, Microsoft's AR headset that's currently in development. Microsoft is pitching these versions of Outlook Mail and Calendar as the first holographic email and calendaring apps in the world, though the release is more significant for developers right now than it is for consumers and business users.
Through AR, you can do some neat things with Outlook and Mail, like stick your inbox on your office wall while you interact with other digital content. In that way, it's not totally unlike having a second monitor, one of which might contain your email and other tidbits while the other displays whatever it is you're currently working on.
"This release is just the beginning, and we’re excited about the opportunities that HoloLens presents to build new and powerful ways of staying connected, productive and on top of your schedule. We are far from done innovating in mixed reality and would love to hear your feedback on how you use Outlook Mail and Calendar on HoloLens and what features you want to see next," Microsoft stated in a blog post.
We're probably far off from a future where business users don headsets to get through their daily work days, but for specialized fields, solutions like HoloLens could be a useful tool. It's really up to developers and that creative implementations they come up with.
