Xbox One Preview Beta Adds Game Pass Fast Start For These Titles

Over the weekend Microsoft started to roll out a new beta update to members of the Xbox One Preview Beta and a subset of members in the Delta Ring. The new update is 1806.180612-1920 and the key feature in this beta update is the addition of Fast Start technology for Games Pass titles. Games Pass is sort of a Netflix of games for Xbox owners.

For now, Fast Start is limited to a set of specific games including:

  • The Flame in the Flood
  • Fuzion Frenzy
  • Screamride
  • Spelunky
  • Casey Powell Lacrosse 16
  • Dovetail Games Euro Fishing
  • The Golf Club

Fast Start is a tech that aims to make the loading of Games Pass games faster for players. The way it does that is by downloading only the assets that are required for the game to run from the Game Pass servers and let gamers get right into the action.

Microsoft has fixed an issue that prevented the CW app from launching with this update. Various location fixes have been applied and performance improvements for the stability and reliability of Party Chat have been made. A slew of miscellaneous performance fixes have been made and an issue with YouTube has been fixed that forced users to sign out of their account when the app launched.

There are a few known issues with the beta offering including Friends status now updating correctly. Some Pins in groups aren’t displaying artwork or show only a white tile. Various other tweaks and fixes were made and a workaround for the Groups issue is offered via this Microsoft link.
