Marantz has refreshed its home theater lineup with the introduction of the Cinema Series 2 AV receivers, promising enthusiast-grade audio processing plus the addition of gaming features for the broader audience. The new lineup consists of the flagship Cinema 50 Series 2 ($3,000), the mid-range Cinema 60 Series 2 ($2,000), the European-only Cinema 60 DAB Series 2 (€1,450), and the space-saving Cinema 70s Series 2 ($1,500).

Every model in the range shares a new 32-bit, eight-channel digital-to-analog converter (DAC). By processing audio conversion simultaneously across all channels, the new architecture tightens dynamic response, sharpens acoustic imaging, and significantly reduces timing jitter during complex multichannel playback.

Outside of handling the usual music and movies, Marantz is also targeting gamers who demand uncompromised AV throughput. HDMI 2.1 support comes standard (all models), now paired with native 1440p passthrough and AMD FreeSync support.

System setup and management also receive a modern overhaul thanks to the Web Control 2.0 interface, allowing users to configure deep system menus directly from a browser on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop (wait, no app?). Future software capabilities are set to expand via an upcoming firmware update that will introduce Bluetooth LE Audio alongside a refreshed HEOS multi-room streaming platform.

Calibration and room correction see one of the biggest changes in the Series 2. Dirac Live Room Correction, a feature previously restricted to top-tier hardware, is now available standard on the Cinema 50 and as an optional add-on (i.e. extra cost) for the other three models.

For maximum power and processing capability, the Cinema 50 Series 2 delivers nine amplified channels alongside 11.4 channels of processing. It stands alone as the only model supporting Dirac’s full advanced suite, including Bass Control and Active Room Treatment, while adding hardware extras like a Dolby Atmos Channel Expander and a Center Bi-Amp mode to maximize dialogue clarity.

Meanwhile, the slimline Cinema 70s Series 2 packs the complete core suite (including full-channel preamp outputs, the upgraded 32-bit DAC, and 1440p FreeSync gaming passthrough) into a compact frame built for tight media consoles.

The initial rollout for the new family begins on August 12 for the Cinema 50, Cinema 60, and Cinema 60 DAB, with the compact Cinema 70s following on September 15. All models arriving in North America will be available only in black finish.
