Jolla To Pick Up MeeGo, Develop New Phones And UI
The Finnish smartphone "product company" is setting out to pick up where Nokia left off and continue the work on MeeGo. The Jolla team is actually comprised of members from the past MeeGo team, working with "some of the best minds working on MeeGo in the communities." Reportedly, the company will be designing, developing and even selling MeeGo phones. That's no small feat; even giants like HTC are having a tough time keeping profits up under the strain from Apple and Samsung. Jolla also hopes to push out a new MeeGo in due time.
It'll be a challenge, that's for sure, but it's good to see the MeeGo torch being carried on in some small way. Shame WebOS doesn't have a similar torchbearer.
