iPhone 5S and Low Cost iPhone 5 Rumors Re-Surface With More Detail
In case you'd forgotten about either rumor, an analyst with KGI Securities just issued a new research report saying both devices are destined to debut alongside iOS 7 this June, with retail availability expected in July.
"Both dates are earlier than last year’s roadmap," writes KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. "We attribute this to: No. 1 an effort to avoid repeating the fatal mistake of last year of the delayed iPhone 5 launch, which gave competitors room to grab market share; and No. 2 the new iPhones this year are mainly designed on the basis of the current iPhone 5, which suggests development time could be reduced."

According to Kuo, the main differences between the two devices will come down to construction and processing power. Whereas the iPhone 5S is expected to feature a 28nm A7 SoC, the lower-cost iPhone will sport a 32nm A6 chip. The affordable iPhone will also come in six color options, just like the iPod touch, whereas the iPhone 5S will be available in black and white.
Other than their physical dimensions, the only other difference Kuo sees between the two is that the higher-end model will have a Smart Flash function to ensure photo quality pictures using a white or yellow flash.
