Intel Hiring Software Architects For Tablet Team
We knew that Intel was planning to establish a presence with upcoming tablets running the new Windows 8 operating system, but a job posting for the chipmaker looking for software architects to develop a tablet platform really says it all:
The Intel tablet SW team is in the early forming stages and presents an opportunity to play a key role in building the IA tablet platform SW foundation and creation of SW technologies to deliver exciting new experiences to consumers. Responsibilities include partnering with Microsoft, key Intel customers, independent technology suppliers, marketing, engineering management and senior architects from multiple Intel disciplines to negotiate, design, and lead implementation of a wide range of high complexity features and systems.
Intel does have its mobile Atom chips, and the most recent one we know of for tablets, codenamed Clover Trail, will most likely compete against ARM’s chips in Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets, respectively.
