iBuyPower Takes Flight With Valkyrie Gaming Notebooks

iBuyPower is adding a line of gaming notebooks to its family of custom systems with the Valkyrie series; the first model up is the CZ-17, which comes in two flavors, each of which are further customizable.

The lowest point of entry is the $1,299 version of the CZ-17, which sports a backlit keyboard, 17.3-inch full HD matte display, and touch panel (above the keyboard) and runs on an Intel Core i7-3610QM processor with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M (1.5GB) graphics. It has 8GB of DDR3-1333MHz memory onboard and an 8X DVD+/-RW combo drive, and the built-in 4-in-1 card reader, THX TrueStudio Pro audio, Killer E2220 and 802.11b/g/n+Bluetooth networking make for a fine feature set.

The base CZ-17 also has a pair of USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, HDMI, DisplayPort, 3MP webcam. Although there are plenty of storage configurations available, including huge storage drives and speedy SSD options, the notebook comes with a slow (5400RPM) 500GB drive, so you’ll need to drop some extra cash to upgrade the storage.

The other stock CZ-17 starts at $1,549 and has twice the memory, GeForce GTX 675M (2GB) graphics, a 750GB (7200RPM) hard drive, and the optical drive adds 6X Blu-ray capabilities. Of course, there are plenty of upgrade options here, as well.
