Analyst Likens Huawei's Ascend P6 Android Handset to a "Steamrolled iPhone"
Analysts who have seen the device have come away impressed, both by its thin design and the overall build quality.
"It's undoubtedly the most impressive phone that Huawei have launched to date in terms of the design, the materials used and its quality," Ben Wood, director of research at consultancy CCS Insight, told BBC News. "We've seen mainland Chinese manufacturers rapidly improve their ability to make competitive devices over the last 18 months and this is possibly the best so far. But its 3G status means there has undoubtedly been a trade-off to get it as thin and cheap as possible."
According to Wood, the Ascend P6 is so thin it's like a "steamrolled iPhone." It would be a shame to actually run over the device with a steamroller, as its spec sheet is mostly impressive (save for the built-in storage). Huawei equipped the Ascend P6 with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 8MP rear-facing camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 2,000mAh battery, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
