$349 Huawei GX8 Builds On Nexus 6P Fame, Enters Wide Distribution In United States
Huawei is looking to build on the welcome reception that the Nexus 6P received stateside with launch of something decidedly more mainstream: the GX8. The GX8, which was first announced at this year’s CES, features an aluminum unibody design (with chamfered edges) that is capped up with 2.5D glass on the front. The display measures a generous 5.5-inch diagonally and features a screen resolution of 1920x1080.

As this is a mid-range offering from Huawei, you’ll find a Snapdragon 616 handling processing duties paired with “only” 2GB of RAM. 16GB of internal storage is on tap (there are no optional, larger storage tiers), although you can easily expand upon that with affordable microSD cards (up to 128GB). When it comes to cameras you’ll find a 13MP unit on the back (28mm wide-angle) and a 5MP front-facing camera. Wrapping things up on the specs front, the GX8 is equipped with a 3000mAh battery and includes a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which can be used with Android Pay.
The Huawei GX8 was released on Amazon last week and today goes on sale at BestBuy.com and Best Buy retail stores in addition to Newegg. Or if you prefer, you can order directly from Huawei's website. The GX8 is available in Space Grey, Horizon Gold and Mystic Champagne, and is priced at $349.99 unlocked.
