HTC Unveils 8-Core 64-Bit Desire 820 Android Powerhouse Phone

HTC is billing its Desire 820 as its new flagship mid-range handset, but as one of the first smartphones to rock Qualcomm's 64-bit capable Snapdragon 615 SoC (System-on-Chip), don't be surprised if it gives some competitors' top shelf models a run for their money. This will especially be true when Android L (likely to be called Lemon Meringue Pie) arrives with its 64-bit ART runtime.

Until then, the Desire 820 is still an impressive handset in the mid-range space. It has a 5.5-inch HD 720p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, microSD card slot with support for up to 128GB capacity memory cards, 8MP front-facing camera for high-quality selfies, 13MP rear-facing camera with f/2.2 lens, dual frontal stereo speakers with HTC BoomSound, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB 2.0, 4G LTE connectivity, and a 2600 mAh battery.
