HP Debuts Google Nexus 7 Competitor with $169.99 HP Slate 7
Inside, the HP Slate 7 features Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a dual-core ARM A9 (1.6GHz) chip, and a 1024x600 resolution, multitouch display. The rear camera is rather weak at 3MP, and the front camera is VGA. There’s 1GB of RAM inside, along with 8GB of eMMC storage and up to 32GB of expandable external storage. One especially choice feature is the presence of Beats Audio with stereo speakers.
The device purports to last 5 hours on a battery charge with video playback, and it weighs 13.05 ounces (or put another way, less than a pound). The above are all decent specs, but the HP Slate 7 has another killer feature: price. This tablet clocks in at just $169.99, which undercuts the Google Nexus 7 by thirty bucks.
