When you get right down to it, there's really only one thing that matters about a cellphone. Can I call someone on it? No matter what? Because most cellphones are fairly delicate, the answer too often is: No. Casio's "ruggedized" G'zOne phone might be the solution to the abuse the real world dishes out to your cell phone.
Inspired by Casio’s G-Shock brand (you know, the watches that can also take a good deal of punishment?), the G’zOne phones
are designed to take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’ (or should that be
textin’?). Last week, while at Digital Experience in NYC, we spotted
the G’zOne Type V (there’s also a Type-S) at Casio’s exhibit. It was
sitting the bottom of a fish tank (you can see this in the video
above). Not only was the phone clearly still functioning after we took
it out of the water, I lured other attendees into playing soccer with
it (and this was after dropping it).
Available along with Verizon Wireless' well regarded service for $99 to $149 depending on the unit.
