Google Could Sell 8 Million Second Generation Nexus 7 Tablets in 2013
Based on info obtained from sources within the upstream supply chain, Digitimes says the next Nexus 7 is likely to be unveiled at the Google I/O Developer Forum next month in San Francisco. Availability will be almost immediate, with Google expected to ship 1 million second generation Nexus 7 tablets in May alone, and 8 million by the end of the year.
The upcoming device will retain a 7-inch form factor, though it will have a higher resolution screen than the current model's 1280x800 (WXGA) display. It will also feature a Qualcomm processor and 3G connectivity. Pricing is expected to be $149 to $199.
Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is also expected to debut at Google I/O, and if that's the case, there's a good chance the next Nexus 7 will be the first device to give users a taste of the newest Android OS.
