Google states that the Pixel Slate boasts a “versatile operating system, matched with high-performance hardware”. The device is supposed to provide a high-quality entertainment experience and assist users with their workloads. It includes up to twelve hours of battery life so that users can use their tablet both at work or in class and at home.

The Pixel Slate is 7mm (roughly 0.28 inches) thin and weighs in at 1.6 lbs. It features curved 2.5D glass, rounded edges, and the display takes up most of the front of the device. Its new “Molecular Display” include 6 million pixels or 293 pixels per inch. The device also incorporates dual front-firing speakers, rear and front 8MP cameras, and front-facing Duo Cam. Families will also be delighted to know that they can control the device with Family Link. This feature will hopefully give some parents a break from the endless loop of Paw Patrol episodes. Overall, the device is supposed to be ideal for watching movies, playing games, video-chatting, listening to music, and looking at pictures.

The tablet also includes a number of handy work features. The Pixel Slate is powered by Chrome OS with built-in Google Assistant. The OS features a new launcher and tools such as split screen. Users will have access to GSuite apps and millions of other apps in Google Play as well. To top it off, users will be protected with a Titan security chip and they will be able to securely sign in to their device with Pixel Imprint, a fingerprint sensor.

Users will have the option of purchasing a Pixel Slate Keyboard and Pixelbook Pen. The Pixel Slate Keyboard is a backlit keyboard with Hush Keys and a trackpad. The Pixelbook Pen is a smart, responsive pen that was released last year. It is already available in stores, but a revamped blue-colored version will accompany the release of the Pixel Slate.
