Gears of War 5, Just Cause 4, Other AAA Games Tipped For E3 Debut Thanks To Walmart Leak

Someone on Walmart's web team in Canada seems to have screwed the pooch and revealed a massive number of unreleased and, in some cases, unannounced games, many of which are expected to make a debut at E3 next month. Whether all of the listings are real or not remains to be seen, though judging by some of the responses by game developers affected by the leak, at least some of them appear to be legitimate.

There are several notable games in the leak, including Just Cause 3, Gears of War 5, Rage 2, to name just a few. There is no box art, which indicates that these are placeholders to be filled in at a later date. Walmart has since removed the listings, though not before Twitter user Wario64 could snap a screenshot, which in turn sparked a discussion on several of the games that appeared.
Developer Bethesda decided to have a little fun with the apparent screw up. The official Twitter account for Rage posted a humorously 'corrected' image of the Rage 2 box art, followed Bethesda's senior vice president of marketing and communications, Pete Hines, reposting the image and saying, "This is why we can't have nice things." Well played, Bethesda.

Rage, a first-person shooter, wasn't major sales success though Hanes did suggest two years ago that it sold well enough to consider making a sequel. We'll have to wait and see if that actually happens, but if it does, this might go down as one of the better unintended promotions, with Bethesda and Hines using the leak as an opportunity to generate some buzz on social media. Crazy times we live in.

As to the rest of the list of games, other publishers have kept silent on the leak, at least for now.
