Dell's Linux-Powered XPS 13 Laptop with 1080p Display Runs Ubuntu
The 3-pound ultrabook comes with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed instead of Windows, making this machine a dream for anyone who desires a high end notebook but doesn’t want to deal with paying for a Windows license only to wipe it and install Ubuntu instead.
This partnership between Canonical and Dell is the result of Project Sputnik, which Dell announced last summer and is designed primarily for developers. Indeed, they’re calling this XPS 13 a “Developer Edition", and it’s replete with dev tools including a cloud launcher to simulate cloud environments and scaling, a profile tool for development environments such as Android and Ruby, and other miscellaneous tools and utilities.
Even if you’re not a developer, you can still snag yourself one of these beauties from Dell, starting at $1,549.
