Gamers in the UK can rejoice as Dell's next generation XPS desktop is available for sale on Dell's UK website. First seen at E3 this year, the system features a new "Full Metal Jacket" case which has a unique aesthetic and some stellar performance features. Here, Dell claims you get the same performance as a watercooled solution thanks to their "air tunnel" design approach. Armed with a 750W PSU, dual GeForce 7800 GTX in SLI, and the latest Pentium D 965 Extreme Edition processor this system is surely a gaming force to be reckoned with. For two months, Dell engineers locked themselves in the lab designing and testing the XPS 700's internal design to optimise cooling, trim down clutter and reduce noise. By cutting the distance to the intercooler and designing components to create an air tunnel, pipes and tubing were virtually eliminated from the inside of the machine. Using natural circulation in a sealed system, the XPS 700 delivers the same thermal benefits as a liquid-based solution, but requires significantly less maintenance.
