Dell Unleashes the Adamo
Perhaps as an effort to counter what Apple achieved with the MacBook Air, Dell is introducing the new Adamo. Touted as the world’s thinnest laptop, the Adamo features a visually striking thin profile and three-toned outer finish.
Adamo, pronounced "A-dahm-o," means "to fall in love with" in Latin. Dell is certainly hoping you’ll fall in love with this notebook’s looks as well as its functionality. The Adamo’s chassis is milled from a single piece of aluminum and features precision detailing with a scalloped backlit keyboard. Even the fan holes, which are punched out squares, have an attractive modern design. An edge-to-edge glass display adds to the Adamo’s striking appearance.
The Adamo features a thin 0.65-inch profile and weighs just four pounds. Looks aren’t all the Adamo has to offer, however. This ultraportable will offer Intel Core 2 Duo processors with Intel Centrino technology, DDR3 memory (up to 4GB), and a 13.4-inch 16:9 HD display. A 128GB solid state drive will keep the laptop cool and quiet. The Adamo will also offer Wi-Fi (draft N) and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity as well as optional integrated mobile broadband.
To accompany this good-looking notebook, a unique color matched collection of Adamo by Dell branded peripherals and accessories will be available. An exclusive line of bags from TUMI will also be available. Accessories include an external storage option with a 250GB or 500GB external hard drive; external DVD+/-RW or Blu-ray disc drive; 8GB USB drive; and connectors and cables such as DisplayPort to HDMI, DVI, and VGA. You’ll also receive 24/7 access to Dell's best trained technicians and consistent communication with a dedicated personal team with the Adamo.
Dell will offer two versions of this fashionable ultraportable, one in Onyx and the other in Pearl. Two configurations will be available, priced at $1,999 and $2,699. Detailed specifications for the $1,999 model are below. The Adamo is available for pre-order starting today. It will begin shipping worldwide on March 26th.
