Computex 2006 Coverage

We stayed stateside and didn't attend Computex this year, but the Tech Report did such a good job summarizing the best of Computex 2006, that it feels like we just got home. It's obvious Geoff was a busy man out in Taipei.

"COMPUTEX IS A SPECTACLE like no other. An ocean away, in a land where most motherboards and graphics cards are born, it's almost like being dropped into the belly of the beast. The show has a different vibe than most North American trade shows, too. While the Consumer Electronics Show, Intel Developer Forum, and E3 cater to the press, Computex is mostly an event for buyers. People go to do business, and while the media's there too, we're mostly just along for the ride. But what a ride. After recovering from four jam-packed days of meetings, snooping, and booth browsing, we've collected our thoughts in a massive Computex report. Marco's interest in computing and technology dates all the way back to his early childhood. Even before being exposed to the Commodore P.E.T. and later the Commodore 64 in the early ‘80s, he was interested in electricity and electronics, and he still has the modded AFX cars and shop-worn soldering irons to prove it. Once he got his hands on his own Commodore 64, however, computing became Marco's passion.
