Canon Powershot G3 X Superzoom Delivers 24-600mm Lens, Gut-Punching $999 Price
Despite it's compact size, the Powershot G3 X comes with an f/2.8-5.6, 25x Optical Power Zoom lens that's equivalent to 24-600mm. That should let photographers get pretty close to the action, even when sitting in the nosebleeds seats at a sporting event. And if you're feeling shaky from all that caffeine, Canon says the improved Intelligent Image Stabilization system provides virtually shake-free images in a variety of shooting conditions.

"The Canon PowerShot G3 X is a truly superb digital camera, one that provides so many top-notch features to empower photographers of all skill levels to shoot and share stunning images and HD video with ease," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "The compact size will make the PowerShot G3 X camera a pleasure to have on-hand for any occasion and the advanced features will help make sure the moment is captured beautifully."
Other features include an ISO range of 125-12,800, a proprietary DIGIC 6 image processor that's supposed to do well in low light situations, 3.2-inch multi-angle capacitive touch panel LCD with 1.62 million dot resolution, high-speed auto-focus with 31 widely spread AF points for fast action shots, 1080p recording with live HDMI output, built-in Wi-Fi, and NFC support.

It's not a bad assortment of features, though the $999 asking price puts the Powershot G3 X in contention with some D-SLRs that sit just above the entry-level point.
