Fans of the original Destiny have reason to be hopeful/ The chances of the classic looter-shooter getting a remaster or remake seem plausible after comments made by one of Bungie's execs. And if all goes well, it could a release of the original on the PC is possible for the first time. This would open the doors to everything the PC platform has to offer too, including mods that aren’t possible on console.

This nugget appeared on X, where Bungie’s head of product Josh Deane quote posted another user’s video of Destiny running on the PC at 60 FPS. Deane shared a GIF of a man who’s eating popcorn along with the message, “Seems like a pretty game, wonder if it will do well.”

That the studio’s head of product posted his reaction is something, but fans should temper their expectations. Especially because Bungie is now a shell of its former self after having been hit with several waves of layoffs. There’s a real question as to whether it has the numbers to handle a remaster or wholesale remake of a game as large as Destiny.

This comes at a time when Bungie’s latest release, Marathon, hasn’t done as well as the studio hoped, prompting a rethink of the game to try and draw in more players. With this project on shaky ground, revisiting a fan favorite makes sense as a way to bring in more revenue while gaining favor with players who have a soft spot in their heart for Destiny.

Another reason to be hopeful for a Destiny remaster is that it fits in with what its publisher, Sony, has been doing with some of its other franchises. The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Demon’s Souls are just a small portion of the titles have all gotten the remaster treatment, so it might be appealing to do the same for Destiny.
