Blizzard And Hasbro Create Fragtastic Overwatch Nerf Reaper Shotgun

It's all fun and games until someone takes a NERF dart to the eye. Any survivor of a NERF war will tell you that NERF foam dart and ball spewing weapons can be a blast. Hasbro and Blizzard Entertainment have teamed up to taunt gamers with a new NERF shooter that fans of the Overwatch game franchise will likely lust after. The weapon is called the NERF Rival Overwatch Reaper Wight Edition Blaster.

NERF calls this thing a blaster, indicating it’s a pistol form factor but it's based on the looks of Reaper's shotgun from the game. The design of the weapon is true to the game and isn't made to shoot those NERF darts, but to shoot newer NERF Rival ball-style rounds. The blaster can hurl those balls at 90 feet per second meaning they will still hurt soft targets in any NERF war.

The balls are flung out of the end of the barrel via a spring-action mechanism and the NERF Rival Overwatch Reaper Wight Edition blaster even has a safety to protect you from shooting yourself in the foot. The unveiling happened at Comic-Con International: San Diego and is just a tease. Attendees at that show can’t buy the toy because it won’t launch until sometime in 2019. This is the first toy in a collaboration between Blizzard and NERF Rival and more Overwatch accessories will be rolled out in time.

In other related news, a new hero was recently added to Overwatch called Wrecking Ball. He is a chubby little hamster that was genetically engineered and commands a round mech that looks like a ball that will wreck you, hence his name. Earlier this year Overwatch rolled out some features meant to help players avoid teammates they didn’t want to play with.
