Black Shark 2 Gaming Phone Attacks With Snapdragon 855, 12GB RAM, And Liquid Cooling

The first Black Shark gaming smartphone launched in April of 2018, and while not exactly svelte, the smartphone was powerful. Rumors circulated late last year that the Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone would launch in October, but that launch never materialized. We had heard that the Black Shark 2 would launch with a Snapdragon 855 under the hood, and that has been confirmed with its official announcement.

The smartphone is landing for the Chinese market, and Black Shark promises that it is committed to building a strong gaming eco-system based on hardware, software, and services. Along with the Snapdragon 855 SoC, the smartphone has up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It uses a direct touch liquid cooling system 3.0; the company says this is the first and only direct touch multilayer liquid cooling system in the world.

The fancy cooling system allows for efficient heat dissipation and covers all heat-generating areas inside the smartphone. Compared to other forms of cooling, Black Shark says the direct touch liquid cooling system can keep CPU temperature 14-degrees lower. The smartphone is equipped with a Ludicrous Mode that gives gamers all the CPU power available and promises no dropped frames. Fast charging with 27W of power provides players with 30 minutes of gaming after a 5-minute charge.

Power comes via a 4,000 mAh battery that promises five hours of gaming on a full charge. The antenna configuration is X+2 that uses an X-type Smart Antenna and a pair of side antennas for the best connectivity in any orientation. Another mode that helps to optimize the phone for gaming is Shark Space-Immersive Gaming mode that uses a single button press to free up all the memory. The display is a 6.39-inch AMOLED that has a response speed of 43.5ms with integrated tech to reduce judder and jar.

The smartphone has a DSP, something Black Shark claims to be a world first, promising the best possible graphics performance. For chatting with friends while playing games, the smartphone has three gaming microphones, and the device has dual front-facing stereo speakers that are 25% larger than other smartphones. Pricing and availability for the Black Shark 2 smartphone is unannounced.
