AT&T Toggle App Allows Personal And Enterprise To Live Together On Android Phones

What if you could flip your phone into "personal mode" when you leave work, and vice-versa when heading in? Most smartphones these days are setup to somehow operate as both a work phone and a personal phone, juggling both as best it can. Which is fine, except there are compromises made on both ends to make it come together. What if you have separate apps you need to frequently access at work compared to at home? It's questions like these that folks at AT&T -- of all companies -- have been asking themselves, and now a new app allows you to better juggle both.

AT&T Toggle is said to work on Android 2.2+ based phones and tablets, as it Toggle separates and safeguards business data on employees’ mobile devices, creating a distinct work mode apart from the typical personal mode in a single smartphone or tablet. AT&T is the first U.S. carrier to announce this type of application, with availability expected before the end of 2011. When not working, send text messages to friends, watch TV shows and movies, and play games on your mobile device as you otherwise would. Personal activities remain segregated. If it’s time to buckle down and focus on business, employees can enter their work environment. In this mode, users can access corporate email, applications, calendars and more, just as they would on a company-provided device.

Something tells us this kind of thing is going to go over quite well.
