AT&T Reports Widespread Outage for U-verse Customers

Ah, downed Internet access. It’s a time to grab a cup of coffee, dust off that book you’ve been meaning to read…or go to a neighbor’s house and use their Internet connection to read about the problems with yours. And if you live in the southern U.S. and have AT&T’s U-verse package, you’re probably doing just that.

AT&T U-verse is a connectivity bundle that includes phone, Internet, and digital TV, so if you’re experiencing the U-verse outage, you’re likely missing out these services. So far, we’ve seen reports of the digital TV service being out, but we haven’t heard on the phone service. The outage has been reported States from Florida to Texas.

There’s no firm word from AT&T yet on when the service will be back up, but it does seem to have identified the problem as being a server issue. It suggests that resetting your “system” may help. We’ll update as the situation changes.

UPDATE: It looks like the U-verse debacle has finally been resolved, as of Thursday afternoon.
