ATI Preps X1800 GTO
The Inquirer reports that ATI is prepping a new X1800 GTO graphics card sku to combat NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce 7600 GT GPU. In short, this new model is essentially an X1800 XL with twelve pipelines instead of the usual sixteen. Using single-slot cooling and armed with 500/1000MHz frequencies for core and memory, ATI's new offering will surely catch attention in the $199-$249 range. However, time will tell which vendor's GPU will ultimately be the best choice.
Called Radeon X1800 GTO, it will be nothing more than an X1800 XL cut down to 12 pipelines.
