ASUS ROG G703 Gaming Laptop Shines With Overclocked Core i7, 144Hz Display, GTX 1080

If you're looking for a hulking bruiser of a gaming laptop, ASUS is looking for your attention with its Republic of Gamers G703. This is a beastly machine that looks more like a desktop replacement than a truly portable machine, nonetheless, it is loaded to the gills with high-powered hardware on both the processor and graphics front.

For starters, the conductor of this orchestra of gaming goodness is a factory overclocked Intel Core i7-7820HK processor, which is clocked at up to 4.3GHz once you take it out of the box (this represents a 10 percent improvement over stock). ASUS has installed its Anti-Dust Cooling (ADC) system to help keep the system cool, so you won't have to worry about cooking your laptop during intense gaming sessions. ASUS pairs the processor with 32GB of DDR4-2800 memory.

Since this is an extreme gaming machine at heart, you'll be happy to know that NVIDIA's potent GeForce GTX 1080 is onboard, and that it is overclockable to a maximum clock of 1974MHz. The GPU is hooked up to a huge 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display with a refresh rate of 144Hz and 7ms response time. As you might expect, NVIDIA G-SYNC technology is enabled, giving you silky smooth visuals while gaming without the hindrance of ghosting and visual tearing.

On the storage front, ASUS has included dual 256GB M.2 PCIe X4 SSDs operating in RAID-0 so that your boot volume offers incredible storage performance. For your extended storage needs, a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive is also installed.

Other features of the ROG G703 include four USB 3.0 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port, mini DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, GbE, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2. As is often the case with these gaming notebooks, ASUS provides full-size keyboard with RGB backlighting (thanks to ROG Aura). The keys have 2.5mm of travel, a 0.3mm keycap curve, N-key rollover and anti-ghosting technology. As an added bonus, the laptop features built-in support for up to eight Xbox One controllers via Xbox Wireless.

The ASUS ROG G703 is available right now direct from the ASUS store or from Amazon priced at $3,499
