Archos GamePad Brings Android To Console Gaming For $190

Archos was a fairly large purveyor of low-cost MP3 players and tablets, but of late, we haven't really heard much from the company. Now, however, the GamePad is making its U.S. arrival, and it may satisfy those who have been waiting for things like the WikiPad to come to fruition. The GamePad runs on Android 4.1, so it's capable of running the myriad games stocked on the Android store. It's got a 7" (1024x600) display, a 0.3"-thick frame, a 1.6GHz dual-core CPU, Mali-400 MP GPU and a bargain price -- just $189 on the top end.

Given that it runs Android, you can also use it to do more than just game. Of course, you could just buy a phablet as your next phone and use that just the same, but there's probably still a market for dedicated handheld consoles; albeit a waning one.
