Apple Reportedly Looking to Make the iPhone More Curvaceous
Citing an unnamed "person familiar with the matter," Bloomberg says the next iPhone will feature a larger display that curves downward at the edges. It will also have enhanced sensors capable of discerning between various levels of pressure.
Now that Apple has experience releasing multiple iPhone models simultaneously, the source says the next launch will again feature two iPhone devices, one with a 4.7-inch display and another with a larger 5.5-inche panel. It's a strategy that makes sense -- continue to serve current iPhone customers who are content with the size and feel of their device, while also bringing in new customers who are want a larger display as found prominently in the Android camp.
Whether or not Apple ultimately launches a curved display smartphone, however, might depend on how well Samsung's Galaxy Round sells. With Samsung being first to market (versus Apple), it gives Apple time assess demand before jumping in (or steering clear).
