AOC Announces C4008VU8 40-inch 4K UHD Curved Screen 10-bit Color Pro Display

There are plenty of competent monitors on the market these days to cover a wide variety of segments. Whether you need a basic display to browse the internet and read emails, or a fast gaming monitor with G-SYNC/FreeSync and ultra-fast response times, or a professional monitor with high-quality color representation; chances are there is a product out there to suit your specific needs.

AOC is targeting creative professionals with its new C4008VU8, which is a curved screen 4K UHD (3840x2160) display with 10-bit color. The C4008VU8 can output over 1.07 billion colors with “more depth and richer color to produce more vibrant images.” AOC definitely isn’t targeting hardcore gamers with this display, as it features a 60Hz refresh rate, although response times are a respectable 5ms.

The C4008VU8 uses a VA panel, has a contrast ratio of 20 million to 1, has horizontal/vertical viewing angles of 178 degrees, and has a brightness rating of 300 cd/m². And in order to satisfy desk jockeys that are stuck in front of their screens for eight hours a day, the C4008VU8 features flicker-free backlight technology that “allows for healthier viewing”

Design wise, you’ll find an inoffensive silver finish and thin bezels that are all the rage these days (and also makes the display a better fit for multi-monitor environments). When it comes to connectivity, you’ll find an HDMI 1.4 port, HDMI 2.0 port, two DisplayPort 2.0 ports, and four USB 3.0 ports, one of which supports fast charging.

AOC says that the C4008VU8 is available today with an MSRP of $899.99. However, a quick trip over to Amazon finds that the display can be had for $843.58.
