Amazon’s Full-Time U.S. Workforce Will Swell By 100,000 Over The Next 18 Months

Are you on the job market? Amazon could be your future employer. The corporation has promised to create 100,000 full-time positions in the United States over the next eighteen months.

The new positions will be available to people of varying skill levels and education. Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder and CEO, remarked, “Innovation is one of our guiding principles at Amazon, and it’s created hundreds of thousands of American jobs. These jobs are not just in our Seattle headquarters or in Silicon Valley—they’re in our customer service network, fulfillment centers and other facilities in local communities throughout the country”.

Where can you find an Amazon job? In Texas, the Houston fulfillment center plans to create more than 1,000 full-time positions, while the corporate office in Austin is looking to hire several hundred people. Four fulfillment centers are currently under construction in Illinois, where they will need 7,000 new employees. There will be 4,000 positions for fulfillment centers in California, 2,500 jobs in New Jersey, 2,500 positions in Florida, and several hundred jobs in Kentucky. It also hopes to train 10,000 active duty service members, veterans and military spouses not employed by Amazon in cloud computing through Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate.

The corporation is looking to increase the scope of its programs aimed at people outside of its immediate business as well. Kindle Direct Publishing enables anyone to self-publish eBooks and paperbacks for free and retain 70% of royalties on sales and their book rights. Amazon Flex allows people to earn up to $25 USD per hour by delivering Amazon packages. Amazon Web Services gives any business “virtually unlimited” compute power, storage, and additional IT resources.

According to Amazon, it provides “employees with highly-competitive pay, health insurance, disability insurance, retirement savings plans and company stock.” It also offers up to twenty weeks of paid leave. In addition, Amazon’s Career Choice program helps to train employees by offering their own courses and pre-paying 95% of tuition.
