Amazon Offers Up Preorders On Apple Watch Series 5 And Deals To Boot
Maybe my memory is failing me, but I do not remember a time when a brand new Apple Watch was offered at a discount before it had even started shipping to customers. Amazon is upping its game (and perhaps Apple too). Over on Amazon, you can preorder a new Apple Watch Series 5 for up to $50 less than the suggested price.
Naturally, the biggest discount is attached to one of the pricier models—the Apple Watch Series 5 (40mm) GPS + Cellular with a stainless steel case and white sport band. Apple prices this variant at $699, but Amazon has it available to preorder for $649.
For a period of time, the 44mm variant with a black Milanese loop was also on sale for $749 (down from $799), but the listing now shows it selling at full price again. Still, if that is the model you are interested in, it is worth pinging the product page on occasion to see if drops down again.
Here are some of the Apple Watch Series 5 preorders available on Amazon...
- Space Black Stainless Steel w/ Black Milanese Loop (GPS + Cellular, 44mm): $799
- Stainless Steel w/ White Sport Band (GPS + Cellular, 40mm): $649.99 (down from $699)
- Space Gray Aluminum w/ Black Sport Band (GPS, 40mm): $384.99 (down from $399)
- Gold Aluminum w/ Pink Sport Band (GPS, 44mm): $429
- Silver Aluminum w/ White Sport Band (GPS, 44mm): $414.99 (down from $429)
Not all of them are on sale, but prices tend to bounce around, hence we've included them in the bunch. Also note that these are all preorders—the Apple Watch Series 5 releases on September 20.
The Apple Watch Series 5 looks similar to the Series 4, but now features an always-on display, made possible with Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxid (LTPO) technology. This means users do not have to lift their wrists to spy the time. Even so, Apple claims battery life is still 18 hours.
Pricing in general for the Apple Watch Series 5 starts at $329 for consumers and $299 for education.
