HTC Reported Working Up A GoPro Competitive Wearable Camera
Whether it's skiing down slopes or navigating the winding roads on a motorcycle, the go-to camera to catch footage of outside activities is the GoPro, at least for now. HTC, a major player in the mobile phone industry and maker of the popular One series of handsets, is reportedly developing its first camera. Like GoPro's models, it will have features that make it suitable for outside use.
Citing a "person familiar with the plans," Bloomberg says HTC's camera will be a waterproof model for extreme sports. It will have an ultra wide-angle lens with a 16-megapixel sensor and will communicate directly with devices based on Google's Android and Apple's iOS platforms.
HTC is said to be working on a waterproof camera to challenge the GoPro.
The tube-shaped camera will connect with such devices via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. In addition, HTC might release its own mobile applications for both Android and iOS to support the camera's features.
