Coffee with Apple CEO Tim Cook Being Auctioned Off For Charity, Currently at $180K, a Lot of Beans
With the highest of over 50 bids now at $180,000, someone is going to win a charity auction for what will undoubtedly be the most expensive cup of coffee ever. Those bidding aren't in it for the coffee, of course, but what comes with it -- one-on-one time with Apple CEO Tim Cook at his company headquarters in Cupertino, California.
If you want to be that person, you have to bid at least $185,000 to trump the current high bidder. Proceeds from the auction, which runs until May 14, 2013, will go to to The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. As for your time with Cook, the winner gets to sit down with and pick the brain of the man Steve Jobs chose to navigate his company before passing on to the other side. The experience will last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, and the winner isn't allowed to "blog, social network, talk to press, write bout, take pictures, or record during the experience in any way due to security regulations." He or she will also have to sign an NDA prior to the sit down.
Obviously at $180,000 or more, this is a cost prohibitive auction for the average person, though some lucky (and presumably wealthy) individual will win a chance to ask Cook about the future of Apple, the company's product roadmap, whether or not Jobs truly designed the iPhone 5 (and the next phone after it) as has been rumored, what he thinks about online chatter suggesting Apple's Board of Directors wants to shake things up with a new CEO, the pressure of running an organization that's constantly under scrutiny despite making billions of dollars in profit each quarter, an so forth.
