Are Microsoft and Lenovo conspiring to keep Linux off Signature Edition PCs? Not so says both companies. The issue came to light after one user bought a Lenovo Yoga 900 Signature Edition convertible with the intention of installing Linux on it. However, his efforts were thwarted, as the machine refused to install Linux. Yesterday, Lenovo confirmed that Linux cannot be installed on the machine because there are no OS-specific drivers for the device’s proprietary RAID configuration. The YOGA 900 is being touted as the world’s thinnest Core i-series convertible, measuring in at just 14.9mm thick. At the center of the 2.9-pound YOGA 900 is a 13.3-inch QHD+ (3200x1800) IPS display, which can be repositioned into laptop, stand, tent, and tablet modes. The display is attached to the base of the machine using Lenovo’s jewel-like watchband hinge, which not only looks good, but also allows for smooth transitions... Read more...
