The Google I/O 2019 event is kicking off in just a few hours (at the time of this writing), or is already underway, depending on when you are reading this. Among other things, it's expected that Google will formally launch its Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL phones. There may not be many surprises, though, as there have been numerous leaks up to this point. The latest one divulges the supposed final spec sheet of the Pixel 3a. Previous rumors pointed to the Pixel 3a being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor. This latest leak seemingly confirms that, along with the presence of 4GB of RAM and a 3,000 mAh battery pack (non-removable, we suspect). The Pixel 3 rumors are coming in fast and furious. Sure, Google already launched the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL (check out our review), but the company is said to be readying toned down versions of both handsets in the form of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL. We've seen some purported benchmarks show up online, and now there's a video of a pre-production Pixel 3 Lite. As always, you should take these things with a grain of salt. One of the things that stands out about the video is it claims the pre-production model wields a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 system-on-chip (SoC). There's nothing wrong with plopping a Snapdragon 670 inside a mid-range handset, but over on Geekbench, a recent entry purporting... Read more...
Back in February, we first received word that Qualcomm was set to unveil a new mid-range SoC for smartphones dubbed the Snapdragon 670. As its naming implies, this is the successor to the Snapdragon 660 and slot in just below the already announced Snapdragon 710 (which we previously covered), and is being aimed at mid-range smartphones. When it comes to the SoC layout, the Snapdragon 670 actually looks a lot more like the Snapdragon 710 than it does its Snapdragon 660 predecessor. In fact, both the Snapdragon 670 and Snapdragon 710 features two "big" Kryo 360 cores along with six "LITTLE' Kryo 360 cores. The only difference is that the Snapdragon 670 has its big cores clocked at a slightly lower... Read more...
Qualcomm is getting ready to introduce a new mid-range Snapdragon chipset for mobile devices, perhaps at Mobile World Congress (MWC) later this month. While the exact launch date is not clear, several detailed specifications have already leaked to the web, indicating that the Snapdragon 670 will be an octacore system-on-chip (SoC) built on a 10-nanometer manufacturing process. According to a German-language website that posted the full spec sheet, the Snapdragon 670 (also known as the SDM670) is based on ARM's big.LITTLE architecture, though not like previous generation chipsets. Rather than split the number of high performance and low performance cores evenly, the Snapdragon 670 will have just... Read more...
