If you have had your eyes on AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper processors, but felt that the 1920X ($799) and 1950X ($999) were out of reach, a cheaper alternative is now available for purchase. First announced late last month, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X brings 8 cores and 16 threads to the table compared to 12/24 and 16/32 (cores/threads) for its 1920X and 1950X siblings, respectively. The lower core count also means that the 1900X has a lower price tag, coming in at just $549. Since the 1900X works with the same AMD X399-based HEDT motherboards, you’re always free to upgrade to one of the more potent processor options later down the road (when prices inevitably fall). The 1900X, as you might expect, takes a step back with regards to core count. Whereas the 1950X and 1920X have 16 cores and 12 cores respectively, the 1900X... Read more...
