Uber has been in hot water over the last few months for some very unsavory allegations. Among them was that Uber was hacked resulting in the data of 57 million customers being stolen. The company allegedly paid the hacker $100,000 to delete the data. The latest issue stems from a 37-page letter that Ric Jacobs, a former member of the Uber security team, sent to management earlier this year detailing all the shady things the company has done over the years. Uber, the popular ride sharing service that allows app users to hail rides from regular people (as opposed to professional taxi drivers), is in search of a new president. Its former president, Jeff Jones, has decided to part ways with the company after less than a year as the number two executive behind chief operating officer Travis Kalanick. Apparently the controversies at Uber were just too much for Jones. Kalanick hired Jones last fall, plucking him from Target where he served as CMO. Add South Carolina to the list of states and cities grappling with the pluses and minuses of allowing ride-sharing services like Lyft and Uber. The state’s Public Service Commission released a cease and desist order yesterday afternoon to put a temporary end to ridesharing services from Uber subsidiary Raiser.  The state is contemplating an application from Rasier for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity, which would give Uber approval to operate in the state.
