The main reason to choose a solid state drive (SSD) over a mechanical hard disk drive (HDD) is speed. With few exceptions, SSDs are simply faster, and in many cases, they can run circles around even the speediest HDDs. Enter Samsung, which just announced that it's developed the industry's first 2.5-inch NVM Express (NVMe) PCI-Express SSD. Samsung's new drives features up to 1.6TB of storage capacity and are intended for the high-end enterprise storage market.
