At the start of the week, we reported on some rather odd notifications that many Windows 10 users were receiving through the Microsoft News app. The popup notifications all referenced “My Movie” and included text like “this is a test notification” and “this test notification.” The misspelling on the latter notification led many to believe that these weren’t legitimate notifications from Microsoft, but the result of some unknown malware. It has often been rumored that the iPhone 8 will ship with a front-facing 3D sensor to replace the Touch ID button, which would bring facial recognition to Apple's next flagship handset. However, that is not the only thing the 3D sensor could be used for. While digging around some source code, a Twitter user found lines of text suggesting that the iPhone 8 will silence notifications when peering at the OLED display. Silencing notifications would be a subtle feature upgrade, but also one that makes a lot of sense if and when the technology is available. It appears that Microsoft is looking to bring tighter integration between its Cortana digital assistant and Google's massively popular Android platform. Specifically, it appears Microsoft is adding Windows 10 notification mirroring to Cortana on Android, as some users have already reported noticing the feature.One of the reports comes from a reddit forum member who notes that he's in the Cortana for Android test program, which gives him early access to features that may or may not be rolled out to the public.
