In the modern era, there is a bit of a commercial space race occurring, vying for NASA’s approval and monetary support. Among the competitors, Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, leading a team of companies, has taken a step forward by delivering an engineering sample of their lunar lander to NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Well, here you go folks. Northrop Grumman has given us the first glimpse of the United States Air Force’s next generation Long Range Strike Bomber (LRS-B), which has been given the official designation of B-21 (as it’s the U.S. Air Force’s first bomber of the 21st century). The B-21 will have some pretty big shoes to fill, as it will effectively serve as a replacement for the B1-B Lancer, B-2 Spirit, and B-52 Stratofortress. If you’re get a sense of deja vu, we certainly can’t blame you; the B-21 render that Northrop Grumman released looks remarkably similar to the B-2 Spirit, which first took flight in 1989 and went into service in 1997.
