Although they are well known overseas, those of you that live in the United States are probably not as familiar with a little company called Huawei. The thing is, it isn't little, and it has been around for quite a while. In fact, Huawei has been around since 1986 and is actually the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world. As of 2018 they are also the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, second only to Samsung. We must say, we came away pretty impressed with what Huawei had to offer with its MateBook X Pro in our recent review, which happens to pack in a lot of current-generation hardware into a thin and light frame for not a lot of money (at least compared to its rivals). The MateBook X Pro shows that Huawei is getting serious about the U.S. market, and it is further extending the reach with the MateBook D. Whereas the MateBook X Pro makes uses of 8th generation Intel Core processors, the MateBook D instead uses an AMD Ryzen 5 2500U APU that incorporates Radeon Vega 8 graphics. Huawei is taking the fight directly to Apple with its new MateBook X. Aimed squarely at the 12-inch MacBook, the MateBook X employs a sleek aluminum frame and a generous 13-inch display with a resolution of 2160×1440 and a screen-to-body ratio of 88 percent thanks to thin 4.4mm bezels.
