Here's the long and short. Huawei’s Mate 9 may no longer hit all the high notes on the cutting-edge smartphone release circuit, but it still remains more than competitive on performance and stocked with impressive base-level features, including rear dual-camera capabilities. In his fascinating book The Millionaire Next Door, Thomas J. Stanley discusses the propensity of millionaires to buy their cars used rather than new. Back in early January, Huawei released the Mate 9 smartphone in the United States with a price tag of $599. To some, the Mate 9 came with unremarkable specs including a 5.9-inch 1080p display and a 2.4GHz Kirin 960 octa-core SoC with 4GB of RAM. However, the feature that arguably got the most attention was Huawei’s intention to bring Amazon Alexa integration to the Android device. Google’s newly launched Pixel XL is likely to grab a few defectors from the Samsung camp, and Huawei is looking to seal the deal with its upcoming Mate 9. Huawei’s latest Android flagship was developed under the codenames Manhattan and Long Island. Both smartphones feature an octa-core 64-bit HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC, 6GB RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. It’s also said that the Mate 9 will feature a dual-lens, dual-sensor main camera setup — both cameras are said to incorporate an f/2.0 lens and 20MP sensors.
