Lenovo continues to lead the PC market when it comes to global PC shipments. According to a report released by the International Data Corporation, Lenovo’s market share has increased to 20 percent for the first time. Lenovo led the pack by shipping a record volume of 15.7 million PCs. HP was in second place with 14.7 million (18.8 percent) and Dell shipped 10.4 million PCs (13.3 percent). The report stated that Lenovo’s market share increased to 20 percent for Q4 2014, up from 17.7 percent back in the third quarter of 2013. By the end of 2012, the International Data Corporation (IDC) predicts China will become the leading market for smartphone shipments, surpassing the current leader, the United States. IDC believes emerging markets will drive smartphone growth around the world, and by 2016, two more such markets -- India and Brazil -- will break into the top 5 country markets for smartphone shipments.
