Samsung is scheduled to unveil its next-generation Galaxy A9 family of smartphones tomorrow, and one of the headlining features of the device will be its quad-camera setup on the back. While dual cameras have become commonplace in smartphones these days -- even in the mid-range market -- some manufacturers like Huawei and LG are creeping into triple-camera territory. If you thought dual cameras were all the rage these days, then Huawei has a thing or two (or three) to say with its triple-camera Mate P20 Pro. But when is three rear cameras not enough? When you can shoehorn in four cameras, of course. That's apparently what Samsung will have in store for us at all a Galaxy event that is scheduled for October 11th Samsung announced the event today on its press site, saying that it will deliver "4X fun". Given that rumors have been swirling for months about a quadruple-camera Galaxy device, the timing appears to be right for such an introduction. Have you ever wondered at what point a smartphone officially doubles as a tablet? The answer is 6 inches. We're declaring it official because hey, why not? Also, that's the size of the display on Samsung's new Galaxy A9 handset unveiled in China yesterday. To put that into perspective, Amazon sells a 6-inch version of its Fire HD tablet. Size matters, but so does resolution and unfortunately the Galaxy A9's massive display is only 1920x1080 (Full HD 1080p). That's certainly serviceable, though not particularly exciting, given all that physical real estate.
