Samsung is refreshing its Galaxy A family with some useful new features that were once reserved for the flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. In addition, the new Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 all will come equipped with a metal frame and 3D glass to give them a more premium appearance and feel. The “runt” of the litter is the Galaxy A3, which features a 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, 1.6GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. An included microSD slot boosts on-device storage up to 256GB. On the camera side of things, you’ll find a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. Powering the device is a 2350 mAh battery. Samsung is bringing its premium design philosophy over to its mid-range line of smartphones, the newest of which will also feature its mobile payment technology called Samsung Pay. They include three new handsets for 2016: Galaxy A7 with a 5.5-inch display, Galaxy A5 with a 5.2-inch display, and Galaxy A3 with a 4.7-inch display. Both the Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A5 sport a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) resolution, so the number of pixels is the same, they'll just be more densely packed on the Galaxy A5. The 4.7-inch Galaxy A3 is the sole deviator with an HD (1280x720) display. All three are Super AMOLED panels, which historically tend to produce bright and accurate colors. The Galaxy A7 is the burliest... Read more...
We first brought you news about Samsung’s Galaxy A7 smartphone earlier this month. The 5.5” Galaxy A7 represents the third model in Samsung’s new Galaxy A series (following the 4.5” A3 and 5” A5) and is Samsung’s thinnest smartphone to date at just 6.3mm thick. We have now learned that Samsung plans to officially announce the device in its home market of South Korea on January 14. According to Phone Arena, the Galaxy A5 will also be officially introduced in the South Korea on the same date; it’s been available in China since November. The Galaxy A7 actually packs in some pretty decent specs including a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM and a 1080p display. You’ll also find a 13MP... Read more...
Earlier this week, we learned that Samsung is going back to the drawing board with the Galaxy S6. The South Korean electronics manufacturer is looking to learn from mistakes it made with the Galaxy S5, leverage economies of scale by reusing components across its entire smartphone range, and use more premium materials to give the Galaxy S6 a more upscale appearance. But while the Galaxy S6 is likely to make an appearance sometime during Q1 2015, it looks as though Samsung is cooking up another Galaxy smartphone that should be launching shortly. The Galaxy A7 has made an appearance via China’s TENAA regulatory agency, and will join the existing mid-range Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. What makes the... Read more...
It seems as though Apple and Samsung can't figure out which one has the better smartphone design (from a physical standpoint). Why? Well, Apple's recently released iPhone 6 Plus looks like a rebadged Galaxy Note phablet with a giant size screen and rounded corners, while leaked photos of Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy Alpha A5 and A3 handsets resemble Apple's previous generation iPhone models. So the mobile world's gone all topsy-turvy on us -- don't question it, just enjoy the ride. And if you happen to enjoy aluminum unibody designs, you're going to love the aforementioned Alpha devices. According to photos and a video posted to Twitter by "AndroidMX," both the Alpha A5 and A3 will feature the... Read more...
