Starting today you can preorder the Apple Watch Series 7. The latest-generation smartwatches are being touted by Apple as being heavy on features and light on price. Are they really? Let's have a look. The Series 7 brings with it the largest and most advanced display on an Apple Watch thus far. The borders have been reduced by 40 percent to allow 20 percent more screen than the previous Series 6. The screen itself is 70 percent brighter indoors when your wrist is down, and you don’t need to raise your wrist because the display is always on, which is neat. Apple also redesigned the buttons across the system to take advantage of the larger display. This should make it easier when using apps... Read more...
At last month’s big iPhone 13 keynote event, Apple also revealed its next-generation Apple Watch Series 7. However, unlike the other products announced at the event, the company said that Series 7 wouldn't launch until later this fall. Well, it looks as though the wait isn’t that long after all, as Apple confirmed today that Series 7 preorders will kick off on Friday morning (October 8th) at 8 am ET. The smartwatch family will ship the following Friday (October 15th). The Series 7 betters its Series 6 predecessor with larger 41 and 45 mm displays (up slightly from 40mm and 44mm, respectively). In addition, the bezels are thinner all around (1.7mm), and content on the display wraps... Read more...
Apple announced its all-new iPad mini yesterday, and it represents the most extensive design revamp to date for the company’s smallest tablet. Whereas the current-generation iPad mini has a 7.9-inch display, the new model expands to 8.9 inches while maintaining the same footprint. When Apple first brought the new iPad mini out on stage, it didn’t detail what hardware was powering the device. However, Mac Rumors was able to find out that the iPad mini uses the same A15 Bionic SoC that powers the iPhone 13 family (likely with a 4-core GPU). The A15 Bionic also features 4GB of RAM, while the current generation tablet features an A12 Bionic SoC and 3GB of RAM. In addition to the new SoC,... Read more...
The iPhone 13 family isn't the only big news from Apple today; the company also announced the Apple Watch Series 7. The Apple Watch family has been around since Spring 2015 and has maintained the same overall design ever since. Sure, the displays have become a smidge larger, and the bezels have shrunk slightly over the years, but the same rounded design has remained. That was all supposed to change with the Series 7, according to numerous reports. It was claimed that the flat-sided aesthetic that Apple introduced last year with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro would transfer to the Series 7. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and what we have here today is another warmed-over refresh that looks... Read more...
Earlier this week, we brought you everything we knew (at that point) regarding the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, and the AirPods 3. However, we stipulated that the information could change, as there would undoubtedly be additional leaks leading up to Apple's official keynote event, which is scheduled for September 14th. Frequent gadget leaker Max Weinbach is back again with some last-minute details on all three new product families. Weinbach listed his findings in a flurry of tweets, but we'll just summarize them here in bulleted form for brevity: The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will offer 120Hz ProMotion displays, which will throttle back to 60Hz in Low Power Mode. The iPhone 13 Pro... Read more...
Just yesterday, we gave you some last-minute details on the products expected to launch at Apple's September keynote. Today, we have an actual date set for the keynote: September 14th at 1 pm ET, which is a week from today. Like all Apple keynotes since the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe last year, this event will be streamed online, and there won't be in-person festivities like in previous years. In addition, the official tagline for the event is "California Streaming," which could be a play on the hit song "California Dreamin'." New products on deck for the event are almost guaranteed to be the iPhone 13 family, which will consist of the following: iPhone 13 mini (5.4-inch) iPhone 13 (6.1-inch)... Read more...
Apple is likely to send out invites for its upcoming September keynote within the next few days. As usual, a next-generation iPhone will be the primary focus of the event. However, it's widely expected that the iPhone 13 family will be joined by the Apple Watch Series 7 and the AirPods 3. With this in mind, here's a quick rundown of what we expect to see from the three product lines later this month. iPhone 13 And iPhone 13 Pro: Another "S" Upgrade Year For Apple's Flagships The iPhone 12 family represented a dramatic shift in iPhone design, moving from years of curved body shapes to flat sides all around. The iPhone 13 family won't bring any significant changes compared to last year, but some... Read more...
Apple typically likes to launch its next-generation Apple Watch lineup alongside its new iPhones. That is expected to still be the case this year with the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7, but the latter might end up reaching the market later than the former. The first publication to report on this delay was Nikkei Asia, which claims that the all-new design of the Apple Watch Series 7 is causing some trouble for Cupertino's manufacturing partners. Manufacturers reportedly "encountered critical challenges in reaching satisfactory production performance," which is directly attributed to "the complexity of design, which is significantly different from that of previous generations of the watch."... As we fast approach the month of September, we must prepare ourselves for a flood of leaked information on the next-generation iPhone family. The iPhone 12 launch was delayed during the global shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the iPhone 13 seems poised for an as-scheduled launch next month. In addition, Apple's flagship phone family will be joined by an all-new Apple Watch Series 7 lineup. iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro: An "S" Style Refresh According to a new report, the iPhone 13 Pro will top out 1TB, which doubles the maximum storage on the iPhone 12 Pro. 1TB would become a new high watermark for smartphone storage and beneficial to heavy photo/video users since iPhones have news supported... As we inch closer to an expected September launch for the Apple Watch Series 7, additional leaks have given us insight into what Apple is cooking up. Credible leakers claim that the Series 7 will finally adopt a brand new design language, ditching the rounded design in favor of flat surfaces and hard edges. A new report alleges that Apple may hold the line on adding more sensors to the Series 7, pushing that move out until 2022. The Series 6 already includes a bevy of sensors, including an altimeter, optical heart rate sensor, electrical heart sensor (ECG), and more. However, instead of devoting internal space to more sensors, Apple will reportedly work to increase the battery capacity of the... Read more...
Every year sees the release of a new iPhone from Apple, along with a new complementing Apple Watch. This year will see the debut of the iPhone 13 and the Apple Watch Series 7. However, while the iPhone 13 is supposed to be a slight update to the design framework that the iPhone 12 introduced, the Series 7 will represent the most significant departure in design for the smartwatch since it first debuted in early 2015. We reported back in mid-May that the rounded shapes of the current Series 6 will be replaced by flat edges more in keeping with the design language of the iPhone 12, iPad Pro, and iMac. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman expands upon those rumors by saying that the Series 7 has thinner display... Read more...
It's kind of hard to believe, but the Apple Watch has been around for over six years. The first-generation model launched in April 2015, and the overall look of the device has remained pretty much the same ever since then. Sure, the display bezels shrunk with the release of the Apple Watch Series 4, but the overall design aesthetic remains the same with the current Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. However, that is all about to change, according to information obtained by Jon Prosser. The gadget leaker claims to have gotten his hands on images of prototype Apple Watch Series 7 devices out in the wild and confidential CAD files. Using that information, he commissioned Ian Zelbo to produce... Read more...
