Canon just introduced the latest addition to its Rebel lineup, the EOS Rebel T1i Digital SLR. The Rebel T1i is the first DSLR in the Rebel line to feature full HD video capture. Canon didn’t stop with HD video: The Rebel T1i also incorporates some of the best technologies used in the EOS 50D and EOS 5D Mark II models such as a DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor. This entry-level DSLR offers a 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 3.0-inch Clear View LCD (920,000 dots/VGA) monitor, and Canon’s Live View modes. Although the show doesn’t start for another 12 days, Canon (like other manufacturers) is taking advantage of the PMA show to attract attention to its new digital cameras. Most of the ten new cameras feature Canon’s DIGIC 4 Image Processor, which improves camera performance and image quality. One of the new features made possible by this chip is Canon's new Smart AUTO, which selects the appropriate camera settings based on shooting conditions.  Smart AUTO uses data from Canon's Optical Image Stabilization, Genuine Face Detection, and Motion Detection Technologies to select the correct settings. Canon and Toshiba found two old men to shake hands like they hate each other in front of a big old newfangled SED flatscreen TV, and everybody took their picture. They also found $1.7 billion dollars in one of their desk drawers and decided to build a great big factory in Japan and crank out enormous cheap flatscreens by 2008.
